Prescriptions
Ordering a repeat prescription
- Please allow 48 hours (two full working days) for prescriptions to be processed (not including Saturdays and Sundays).
- If you require more than one item each month, please try to order them at the same time.
- In line with the Coastal West Sussex Medicines Team recommendations, most repeat medicines are prescribed for 28 days.
- All prescriptions are produced electronically. We are therefore no longer able to print green prescriptions on demand.
- We do not accept repeat prescription requests over the phone.
When you order a prescription online, you can have it sent electronically to a pharmacy of your choice. This is called a nomination. We are therefore no longer able to print green prescriptions on demand.
The NHS App
Order repeat prescriptions via the NHS App or NHS website, and have them sent to a pharmacy of your choice.

Pharmacies offer a prescription collection service from our Practice
Your pharmacy can also order your medication on your behalf. This saves you time and unnecessary visits to the Practice. Please contact the Pharmacy of your choice for more information if you wish to use this service.
About pharmacists
As qualified healthcare professionals, pharmacists can offer advice on minor illnesses such as:
- coughs
- colds
- sore throats
- tummy trouble
- aches and pains
They can also advise on medicine that you can buy without a prescription.
In Person
You can order in person by returning the right-hand half of a previous prescription for the required medications.
Alternatively, you can submit a handwritten request. You may also write out an order for someone else, providing you include the patient’s name and date of birth and requested medication.
By Post
You can post your prescription slip or written request to us at the Practice.
You must include a stamped addressed envelope for return by post if you will not be able to pick up your prescription from the Surgery. Please allow at least seven days if requesting your medication by post.
Questions about your prescription
If you have questions about your medicine, your local pharmacists can answer these. They can also answer questions on medicines you can buy without a prescription.
The NHS website has information on how your medicine works, how and when to take it, possible side effects and answers to your common questions.

Medication reviews
If you have a repeat prescription, we may ask you to come in for a regular review. A note may appear on your repeat slip advising that the medication needs review. Please then make a routine appointment to see a Doctor.

What to do with old medicines
Take it to the pharmacy you got it from or bring it in to the surgery. Do not put it in your household bin or flush it down the toilet.
Declaration
The Croft Pharmacy is the on-site pharmacy at The Croft Practice. This is owned by Aroschem Ltd., of which Drs. Buchanan, Paterson, Rose and Bridger are Directors.
The Five Villages Pharmacy, located in Barnham, is also owned by Aroschem Ltd.
