GP and Pharmacy
Stop Smoking Services
From 31 March 2026, West Sussex County Council will no longer commission stop smoking services delivered through GP practices and community pharmacies.
This means that after this date, our practice will no longer be able to provide the locally commissioned stop smoking programme, including behavioural support and access to certain treatments under this service.
From 1 April 2026, patients who would like support to stop smoking will be referred to Smokefree West Sussex services, which include:
- Quit 4 Wellbeing – personalised stop smoking support
- Wellbeing Hubs – local support and advice services
- Smokefree app – digital tools to help you quit and stay smokefree
We understand that stopping smoking is an important step for your health, and support will continue to be available through these services. You can also:
- Speak to a member of our clinical team for advice and guidance
- Access national stop smoking resources and support tools
- Discuss nicotine replacement therapy or other medications, where clinically appropriate
We remain committed to supporting patients to improve their health and can help guide you to the most appropriate support available after this change.
